School of Music

Where artistry and innovation share center stage

Updated Information June 25, 2021At this time, CMU has not reopened campus buildings for visitors. Those wishing to visit campus may schedule a self-guided walking tour through the Office of Undergraduate Admission. The School of Music remains closed to guests; you can check this website for an updated information session schedule and view our virtual tour

Audition and application information will be updated by August 1 and is anticipated to open August 15. We are waiting for the university to update policies surrounding visitors and events before we can finalize what the Fall 2022 application process will look like. When available, it will be updated on this site and time-stamped. Most audition/portfolio requirements do not change from year to year, so the posted information is likely to be accurate for the Fall 2022 application process.

Fall 2021 Information: All auditions and portfolio reviews will be completed virtually for 2020-2021 applications.

All music applications are due December 1, 2020. Applicants have until January 4, 2021 to upload their recordings or portfolio materials to their music application via Acceptd. Both components of the application will be uploaded through Acceptd in a two-step process: first, application materials will be uploaded with the application by December 1. Second, once your recordings or portfolio is ready, you will then log back into Acceptd, click "Continue" and follow instructions to upload your remaining materials by January 4. Virtual callbacks and interviews will be requested in January and February 2021, after initial application materials are reviewed. Not all applicants will receive a callback, but that does not mean they are not being considered for admission.

There are no prescreening requirements for the 2020-2021 year.
