Updated Information June 6, 2022: Our office will be closed June 10-June 24, resuming tours on Monday, June 27. Please see below for information regarding tours outside of those dates.

During the months of June, July, and August School of Music In-Person or Virtual visits will be offered on an individual basis.  Please find more information below.  We will be continuing to follow the University Visitor Protocols. Facial coverings both indoors and outdoors are optional for everyone who is up-to-date with respect to COVID-19 vaccinations (meaning fully vaccinated and boosted when eligible). Those who are not up-to-date on vaccinations must continue to follow mitigation measures, including wearing facial coverings while indoors.

The Undergraduate Admission office is also offering in-person campus tours.  Those wishing a full campus tour may schedule through the Office of Undergraduate Admission or register for an in-person information session or campus tour

Visit Opportunities for Prospective Students 

In-Person or Virtual School of Music Tour and Q&A:

Please email with the date and time (weekdays only between 10 AM - 3 PM) you would like to visit and wether you would like an in-person or virtual (Zoom) visit.  A member of the Music Admission and Recruitment Staff will respond with a confirmation and more information.  Please note that due to summer staffing and renovation projects in the College of Fine Arts Building in-person tours may not be available every day.

Once you have registered more information will be sent via email. Please also review the CMU Visitor Protocols prior to your visit. 

The Virtual Visits and In Person Tours are focused primarily toward undergraduate prospects, applicants, and accepted students.  If you are a graduate prospect please feel free to register for one of the Virtual Visits or In Person Tours, however, if you are interested in scheduling an individual appointment with a member of our staff, please contact us directly at We can offer Zoom or other types of appointments, and will confirm with you directly. 

If you are interested in meeting with a music faculty member for a sample lesson or to observe a lesson, please contact that professor directly. You can see our faculty's contact information here.  Faculty may not be available for visits or lessons during the summer months.
