Bio
Richard Randall is Associate Professor of Music Theory at the Carnegie Mellon University School of Music. Randall holds a faculty appointment at the Center for the Neural Basis of Cognition and the Neuroscience Institute. His research is focused on the cultural, technological, and psychological foundations of musical experiences and he has published the areas of neuroscience, perceptual and cognitive psychology, music theory, and media and cultural studies.
Randall directs the Music Experience Lab, which creates, investigates, and documents musical experiences across multiple domains. MEL operates within and beyond disciplinary boundaries to answer questions about what music is and why it is important to us.
