Pittsburgh Symphony Musicians Howell and Luperi Join Faculty

The Carnegie Mellon University School of Music is pleased to welcome two additional members of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra to the ranks of the School of Music faculty. Jack Howell, principal bass clarinet, and Victoria Luperi, principal E-flat clarinet and associate principal clarinet have been appointed Artist Lecturers in Clarinet.
Before joining the Pittsburgh Symphony, Jack Howell was associate principal clarinet of the New Zealand Symphony and principal clarinet of the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra and Wheeling Symphony Orchestra. He has performed with many other orchestras around the country, including the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and Cleveland Symphony Orchestra.
Victoria Luperi joined the Pittsburgh Symphony in 2016. Prior to that, she served as principal clarinet in the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra and the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. A native of Argentina, she has performed all over the world and has collaborated with the Emerson Quartet and Guarneri Quartet. She premiered two works for soloist and orchestra that were composed for her by John B. Hedges and Til Meyn. Luperi has also served on the faculty of the University of Texas at Austin, Texas Christian University, Brandon University, the New York Summer Music Festival, the Filarmónica Joven de Colombia, and the Buffet Academy.
