Announcing the Winners of the Steinway Junior Piano Competition

School of Music Preparatory Division

This spring, Fort Pitt Piano Company hosted the region's 2019 Steinway Junior Piano Competition. This is the second annual Steinway & Sons competition for young pianists ages 18 and under. The preparatory school is proud to have four winners from this year's competition.

Students were required to present two memorized, contrasting pieces for solo piano. These pieces needed to be from different eras of Western classical music, which could include Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and 20th Century. In addition to compensation, the top three winners received a medal and national recognition from Steinway & Sons.
