Bio

David Vinski recently retired as the long-time Managing Director of the Pittsburgh Playhouse, the performing arts facility of Point Park University, where he was also an adjunct professor in the Department of Dance. Originally, his interest in his cultural heritage led him to The Tamburitzans, an undergraduate touring ensemble that presents songs and dances from Slavic and Central European cultures. Subsequently, David began teaching and choreographing and expanding his interest to include additional cultures. He is well- known throughout the U.S. for his Folk Dance Workshops and has been on the teaching staff of International Folk Dance Camp, Kentucky Dance Institute, Oglebey Dance Camp, Pinewoods Dance Camp, Mainewoods Dance Camp, and CMU Dalcroze Institute. He has been a guest choreographer for Dear Friends, Pittsburgh Youth Chorus, Pittsburgh International Folk Theatre, Penn State International Ensemble, Pittsburgh Savoyards, and received an award in choreography from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts for his choreography Appalachian Medley.
