The Fence and its Role in Supporting Free Expression
For the last 100 years, the Fence has stood as a self-regulating, student-governed space for open expression. We firmly believe that the exchange of ideas and perspectives creates knowledge, improves understanding and cultivates a campus atmosphere rich in diversity and innovation.

Support Carnegie Mellon’s 30th Annual Food Drive
Today, Staff Council launched Carnegie Mellon’s 30th Annual Food Drive. Carole and I are honored to once again chair this year’s initiative, which runs through November 13, 2023. One of the university’s priorities is to advance our efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, which contribute to making the world a better place. Our food drive impacts several of these goals, including reaching zero hunger and reducing consumption and production.
