The Carnegie Mellon University School of Music is proud to announce the International Conference of Dalcroze Studies is coming to the CMU campus on August 2 – 5, 2023.
The ICDS is a global, transdisciplinary forum open to viewpoints from education, the arts and humanities, and the social, health and life sciences. ICDS is a leading forum for knowledge exchange meeting at the intersection of music, movement, and Dalcroze Eurhythmics/Dalcroze studies. This is the first time the ICDS is being hosted in the United States.
This year's conference will feature presentations from participants from more than 20 countries and five continents. The 3 and 1/2 day conference will feature more than 95 presentations (papers, workshops, performances, and roundtables). Among the keynote speakers will be the MacArthur Genius award-winning composer, singer, director, choreographer, filmmaker, and creator of new-opera theatre music works, films, and installations - Meredith Monk.
Of extra special note, the Grammy-winning vocal band Roomful of Teeth and Pittsburgh’s world-renowned dance company, Attack Theatre will perform together at CMU’s Philip Chosky Theater in an evening concert titled BLURRED BODIES, on Friday, August 4, in a performance arranged specially for the ICDS conference.
