CARNEGIE MELLON NOTES: REZA VALI AND ANDREW CLARK

CMU composer Reza Vali will have a work performed in China’s Beijing Modern Music Festival (May 22-28). Vali’s Folk Songs (Set No. 10) will be performed on May 24 by the Beijing Symphony Orchestra. It will be interesting to see the reaction to that in China. My guess is they will love it cause the country has such a history in the Communist era of supporting folk songs…

Conductor Andrew Clark has been hired by Harvard University, and the Office for the Arts at Harvard, as its new Director of Choral Activities and Senior Lecturer in the Music Department. Clark was at Tufts University, but got his masters at CMU in 2001; he studied choral conducting there with Robert Page.
