ALUMNA PENS BOOK ABOUT IMPROVISATION

Nicole Brockmann, a Carnegie Mellon School of Music alumna, has written a book titled “From Sight to Sound: Improvisational Games for Classical Musicians.” The book was reviewed in the December 2009/January 2010 issue of American Music Teacher. Of the book’s instructions, writer Bradley Sowash commented: “Whatever the setting, any smaller group of open-minded classical musicians will find ample opportunities here for improved listening, deeper musical understanding and increased sensitivity to playing together.”
