Bio

Shoshana Klein is an oboist starting a master’s degree at McGill University. She graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in 2017 with a degree in music and psychology, and in May 2018 with an advanced musical studies certificate. Shoshana is particularly interested in contemporary applications and social impacts of music. With a specific interest in new music, she has attended the Fresh Inc and Bang on a Can Festivals, and performed dozens of world premieres and original compositions, including performances at venues in New York City, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Chicago, and North Adams, Massachusetts.

Shoshana first became interested in Dalcroze through classes at Carnegie Mellon. She began attending the summer workshops in 2015 to continue working on her musicianship through the Dalcroze system, which has informed her concepts of pedagogy and music. Knowing that teaching and education will be a part of her career in the future, Shoshana hopes to continue to improve in her Dalcroze training and incorporate it into any teaching opportunities that come up.
