Search Process

The search for a president is led by the Board of Trustees in collaboration with the Faculty Senate. The chair of the board appoints trustee members, one of whom serves as the search committee chair. The chair of the Faculty Senate, who serves as the faculty co-chair, consults with the search committee chair and recruits faculty members to serve.

CMU has retained the services of a search consultant, Russell Reynolds, to support the search committee. Members of the campus community may also submit nominations via email. All qualified candidates will be considered. All other comments should be submitted via the confidential comment form

Open Forums will be offered for faculty, staff, students and alumni to share what qualities the CMU community finds important for the next president. Members of the community who are unable to attend the open forums are encouraged to submit suggestions or comments via our confidential comment form

The final decision about whom to hire as the next president will be made by the Board of Trustees. The process is a highly confidential process so the identities of the candidates are not shared outside of the search committee.
