Decision Making Lesson Plans

The following are designed to be stand-alone lesson plans and are not meant to be used in any particular
order.

  • Debate: Walks students through a traditional debate using sample debate statements on climate, energy, and environment.
  • Marcellus Shale: Who Pays?: Students will evaluate news sources to develop a working definition of a "bad incident," know when one has occurred, and try to assign responsibility for the action. They should recognize that determining who is at fault isn't always straightforward.
  • The Supply and Demand Game – Carbon Tax & Cap and Trade: Students will learn about the law of supply and demand as it applies to a carbon tax and cap and trade through a fun, fast-paced game.
  • Understanding Electricity Mix Tradeoffs 1: Students will use an interactive computer tool to create a low-carbon energy mix. This exercise illustrates the tradeoffs between different energy sources, highlighting that there is no one silver bullet as an answer.
