Carnegie Mellon University

The Gelfand Center hires Carnegie Mellon students to serve as Gelfand STEM Ambassadors to teach K-12 students about science, technology, engineering and mathematics subjects, as well as research through hands-on activities, demonstrations, tours, and other fun learning activities! These outreach efforts are conducted in community centers, schools, and on Carnegie Mellon’s campus.

STEM Ambassadors participate in paid weekly professional development programs to learn how to present a variety of STEM-focused lessons and demonstrations. These sessions include information about working with children of different ages. STEM Ambassadors also design new demonstrations and hands-on activities.

STEM Ambassadors are invited to participate in programs as they are scheduled. We understand that all STEM Ambassadors will not be able to participate in every program because of class schedules.
