Reminder: Residence Halls Close for Winter Break

As a reminder, all residence halls close at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2021, for all residents not approved for Winter Break housing in designated open Winter Break buildings. Make sure you are prepared for winter break by checking out these helpful tips, and if you have questions, contact housing@andrew.cmu.edu.

Updated Travel Guidance

In case you missed it, OIE’s international travel guidance was recently updated, and a news article was posted regarding the U.S. government’s newly announced travel restrictions from some countries in Southern Africa. As the pandemic continues to impact international travel, we encourage community members to carefully consider international travel plans and the related personal risks. Stay up-to-date by frequently viewing CMU’s COVID-19 information and OIE’s news and updates via our website or Twitter.

Lawrenceville Cookie Tour

Looking for a sweet treat to kick off winter break? Visit the unique businesses along Butler Street to sample cookies! On Dec. 11, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., you can explore Lawrenceville and sample some tasty treats. You can even collect the recipe cards at each stop to make your own. There are “Take A Break” stops to enjoy a meal or coffee. Check out each spot for a chance to win a prize! This event is free to attend, more information and maps are available.

Oakland 5k Tour

Feeling a little cooped up after finals? Try a running tour of Oakland! Explore our local community on a route that passes through both campuses and Schenley Park. Participants will learn about many sites along the way. The pace is casual to accommodate all abilities on this guided tour. More ticketing information is available.

Staying in town over the break? Head over to Market Square from now till Dec. 23 for a holiday experience like no other. Check out the tenth annual Peoples Gas Holiday Market.
