Documents to Travel With
Now that you're on you're way to CMU, make sure you carry the required documents with you to experience a seamless entry into the U.S. It is important to remember to keep your immigration documents in your carry-on luggage - not your checked luggage - so you can easily access them when needed.

Immigration Check-In & Orientation
OIE hosts an orientation and immigration check-in for new scholars every Thursday. Within the first week of your arrival, email OIE at oie@andrew.cmu.edu to register for an upcoming orientation session. This is required for all new CMU scholars in J-1 immigration status.

Learning to fully understand and speak the English language while at CMU and in the U.S. is necessary, but support training and courses can also help you navigate the many cultural differences and nuances of living in a foreign country.
