Interested in learning more about the resources OIE provides? Want to help other Tartans as they explore international education options? Check out the International Education Showcase presented by the Office of International Education and Study Abroad! Our goal is to provide resources to those interested in learning about international aspects of Carnegie Mellon and strengthening connections within the CMU community and beyond. Winter Welcome

The Winter Welcome has gone virtual! Join SLICE for an exciting slate of Winter Welcome events. From now until Jan. 31, get involved with CMU’s student organizations, connect with campus and practice wellness. Join a self-compassion workshop, try a virtual painting night (paint kits provided), or participate in the annual soup crawl across campus. The Winter Welcome will help make you feel right at home on campus. Be sure to keep an eye on @sliceatcmu on Instagram for more info about some fun wintery excursions coming in February! Center Virtual Open House for Grad Students

Have you checked out The Center for Student Diversity & Inclusion? Come hang out on Thursday, Jan. 27, from 4 to 5 p.m. for a virtual trivia night! You can even stop by The Center, located on the lower level of the Cohon University Center, directly across from the University Bookstore, earlier in the day for free snacks to bring home and enjoy during the game. All you’ll need to bring is your competitive spirit! More registration information is available.

Virtual Jumpstart

It’s never too early to jumpstart your internship and job hunt! Check out Jumpstart on Monday, Jan. 31, from 5 to 8 p.m. This virtual networking event is designed to introduce first-year and sophomore undergraduates to employers interested in connecting with talented students just like you. This event is meant to help you learn about employers, internship programs, and professional competencies recruiters are looking for in your industry of interest. Join Pre-College

Are you looking for an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of young people, hone event planning skills and leadership abilities, and make peer relationships last a lifetime? CMU’s Pre-College summer program is seeking to hire a diverse pool of 60+ CMU students to support its robust offerings, including 12 academic programs and the 700+ high school students coming to Pittsburgh from all over the world next summer. As a student staff member, you will work together to provide a well-rounded offering of social, educational and cultural events to enhance the Pre-College summer experience for participants and supervise their residential experience. The compensation package includes a stipend, summertime housing and dining arrangement, training, and professional development. Our Pittsburgh Picks

Online Chair Yoga

We’re all spending a little more time in chairs with virtual classes, so try some chair yoga! This online class on Tuesday, Jan. 25, from 11 to 11:30 a.m., is offered by the Carnegie Museum of Art and will teach you to gently stretch and relax your body, mind, and spirit all in the comfort of your own space. This class is designed for all levels and abilities. Follow along while a certified yoga instructor guides you through movement inspired by a work of art from the museum’s collection. The class will consist of seated gentle exercise, standing poses that use the chair for balance and support, and breathing and relaxation techniques. An armless chair is recommended for this class. For privacy, participants will not be visible to each other or to the instructor. Registration is free, and you will receive your Zoom link in your confirmation email.

Schenley Park Ice Skating

Want to get a little fresh air? Ice skating at the Schenley Park Ice Skating Rink is a Pittsburgh classic! Whether you’ve been skating your whole life and could practically make a Winter Olympics team, or you’re just starting out, the Schenley Park rink is an annual favorite. Located in scenic Schenley Park, open skates run almost every day, with discounted tickets for anyone with a college student ID. More information and ticketing prices are available.

Whether you love winter or you’re dreaming of warmer weather, check out this list of great soup spots. From American classics to dishes from across the globe, there is something for everyone to warm up with. Maybe you want to combine a skating trip to Schenley Park or PPG Place, followed by a warm bowl of soup or you just want something different for lunch.
