Other Work Categories
Most foreign employees at Carnegie Mellon are employed as J-1 researcher/professors or as H-1B employees or other visitors; however, there are other non-immigrant categories that allow for employment or formal visits. These incude B visitors, F-1 students on OPT, J-1 students and scholars on Academic Training, J-2 status, O status and TN status. OIE offers orientation, information, and assistance to these employees even when OIE is not directly involved in helping individuals obtain such work statuses or immigration documents.
