Spring Farmer's Market

The best part about spring? Farmer's markets are back! On Tuesday, April 23, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., join Chartwells and over 15 local vendors and campus partners for a delicious midday break. Shop everything from springtime produce to plants, fresh-squeezed juices, gluten-free baked goods and more. Check out the full list of vendors. Learn more about this event.

The Science and Practice of Breath for Mindfulness

Take a minute to destress! On Wednesday, April 24, at 5 p.m., take a moment to center yourself and unwind. Breath and mind are intimately connected. In this four-part series, you will learn breathing techniques (Physiological Sigh, Tummo, Wim Hof, etc.) that have been shown through centuries of practice and also by current research to calm, center, and activate the mind. Learn more about this event.

Wild Earth Day

The world is one wild place! On Saturday, April 20, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., celebrate the planet we call home! Pittsburgh Earth Day and Green Voice join the Zoo in presenting a day honoring our wonderful world and learning how we can continue to help it thrive. In addition to live music, art, and educational opportunities, meet representatives from some of our community's greenest organizations. Check out this Earth Day celebration that is truly out of this world! Learn more about this event.

3rd Annual Steel City Duck Derby

And we're off to the races! On April 20, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., join the fun as part of the Steel City Duck Derby. People from all over are invited to "adopt ducks," which will take part in the race. The top five finishers will win great prizes and bragging rights! Before the race, Allegheny Commons Park will be the site of a fun Family Duck Fest, with food trucks, face painting, tattoos, music and more! The festival begins at 11 a.m., with 10,000 rubber ducks being "launched" into Lake Elizabeth at 1 p.m.! Learn more about this event.

Super Science Saturday: The Stories We Keep

On Saturday, April 20, at 12 p.m., head to the Carnegie Museum of Natural History for another installment of Super Science Saturdays. Caring for the museum's millions of specimens is a BIG job! Investigate the science of conservation and restoration that keeps the cherished objects in our care safe. Meet museum conservators and watch them demonstrate conservation techniques in real time in Dinosaurs in Their Time, the Hall of North American Wildlife, and the conservation lab in The Stories We Keep. Discover the ten "Agents of Deterioration" that conservators guard against and learn how to care for your special things at home. Learn more about this event.

Yinzerfest

Hey, yinz we're headed dahntahn! From April 25 to 28, check out Yinzerfest, the first-of-its-kind celebration of all things Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh Yinzerfest is the ultimate family-friendly four-day event that will offer local bites, live music by Pittsburgh's favorite bands, a cooking stage featuring local chefs, vendor booths from your favorite crafty Yinzers, and a comedy stage featuring our hometown comedians! Eat till your heart's content at one of our local food vendors, meet and get an autograph from your favorite sports heroes, dance the day away with any or all of the locally based bands, and take home a piece of ‘da Burgh by visiting one of the many businesses that are participating in the celebration of our great city! Learn more about this event.
