MLK Day Closure

We want to remind everyone that the university will be closed for Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, Jan. 16. You can also learn about the history of MLK Day and why it’s called “a day on, not a day off.” Plus, check out some of the events happening across campus all month long in honor of Dr. King.

Updated OIE Office Hours

Starting this spring semester, OIE's office hours will be modified on Thursdays. On Thursdays, the OIE office will be open from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. OIE hours will remain 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday through Wednesday and Fridays. We will be happy to help you during our new hours.

Spring Appointments with Advisors

As a reminder, the staff at OIE are available to help with your question and concerns and invite students and scholars to make in-person appointments through the online scheduling tool. Before making an appointment, we encourage you to review our Frequently Asked Questions to see if you can find your answer there.

Winter Welcome

The Winter Welcome is back! Join SLICE for an exciting slate of Winter Welcome events. From now until Jan. 27, get involved with CMU's student organizations, connect with campus and practice wellness. Join a mental health workshop, try weightlifting, solve a murder at a murder mystery dinner or participate in the annual soup crawl across campus. Our Pittsburgh Picks

Food Truck-a-Palooza

On Saturday, Jan. 14, from 1 to 6 p.m., check out Food Truck-a-Palooza at the Monroeville Convention Center. A reimagined festival of fun, Food Truck A Palooza: Under the Big Top will feature the Greatest Trucks in the 'Burgh around a captivating collection of circus acts! Jugglers, clowns and more will entertain under the Big Top as you enjoy delicious bites from the Greatest Trucks in the Burgh! Tickets should be purchased in advance.

26th CASTP Greater Pittsburgh Lunar New Year Fair and Show

On Sunday, Jan. 15, from 1 to 6 p.m., head to the Carnegie Museum of Art to celebrate cultural diversity, science and technology, and art. Featuring photography and youth art exhibitions, paintings by award-winning New York abstract artist Hedy O'Beil, robot shows, VR game interaction and various cultural activities. This year's show will also feature Xiaobo's Waist Drum Dance Group, Zhou Yi, a pipa and qin soloist and Song Feihong, the Peking Opera artist. Tickets are free, but online registration is required.

Penguins on Parade

Waddle back into winter with these Pittsburgh penguins! Join the zoo every weekend (weather permitting) this winter as Pittsburgh Zoo takes the penguins on a walk outside the Aquarium. The penguins will start their parade at the upper entrance of the Aquarium at 11:30 a.m. and typically spend about 20 minutes exploring outside. Afterward, you can explore the zoo and learn more about the conservation work they support every day. Tickets to the zoo can be purchased online or in person.
