Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration

On Tuesday, Oct. 3, at 6 p.m., check out the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival. The full moon has long been regarded as a symbol of reunion and togetherness in Chinese culture. Come and have fun together with the Modern Languages department. This event is free and open to the public! Learn more about the event.

The Martian and (Our) Life on Mars

Friday, Sept. 29, from 6 to 9 p.m.</strong, check out a free screening of Ridley Scott's The Martian (2015) starring Matt Damon, sponsored by the Center for the Arts in Society. This event will be followed by a lecture about (Our) Life on Mars? by Dava J. Newman, MIT Professor and former Deputy Director of NASA, on October 4, at 6 p.m. Learn more about the screening and stay tuned for more about (Our) Life on Mars.

Contemporary Craft Community Day

Let's get crafty! On Saturday, Sept. 30, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., you can take part in this family-friendly day of art and eco-friendly, hands-on activities! Check out artist demos, make some art in our Studios, enjoy light snacks, and participate in a scavenger hunt of a new exhibition, Climate Awakening: Crafting a Sustainable Future. Learn more about the event.

Pittsburgh's Dragon Boat Festival is back! On Saturday, Sept. 30, from 8:20 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., head up to North Park Lake for the annual Dragon Boat Festival. Watch as teams compete in a day of racing and fun. Learn more about the event or get involved with the Dragon Boating community.

Pittsburgh Ren Fest

Huzzah! From Sept. 30 to Oct. 1, check out the last weekend of Pittsburgh's Renaissance Festival. Celebrate with master revelers, watch artisans create original works of their ancient craft, and be taken in by the tantalizing aromas of roast turkey legs, steak on a stake, fresh baked goods and much more. Learn more about this event.

Scre3nshot: Asian Film Festival

Lights, camera, action! Starting Oct. 4, check out Pittsburgh's only Asian and Asian American film and media festival! This second annual film festival will take place Oct. 4 through Oct. 8, with films from all over Asia, including China, India, Iran, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and the U.S. Screenings will be held on Pitt's campus as well as at the Harris theater. Learn more about the event and purchase tickets</a.

Hispanic Heritage Festival

On Saturday, Sept. 30, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., check out the Pittsburgh Hispanic Heritage Festival, a celebration of culture, empowerment, and unity at Pittsburgh's first city-wide Hispanic Heritage Festival! This festive day consists of a community festival at the Heinz History Museum, a celebration of Roberto Clemente's three thousandth hit and an after party and entertainment. This special day promises unforgettable festivities and entertainment that showcase our city's rich cultural fabric. Learn more about the event.

Tropical Forest Hawai'i Festival

Experience Hawai'i without ever leaving the 'Burgh! On Saturday, Sept. 30, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., check out a full day of exciting activities for all ages at the Tropical Forest Hawai'i Festival. It features entertainment, activities and more inspired by one of the world's most botanically and culturally rich forest regions. Activities include Hawaiian cultural demonstrations, up-close examination of Hawai'i's rare plants, Hawaiian-inspired food samples from Café Phipps. Learn more about the event.

I'm Ukrainian

On Saturday, Sept. 30, at 3 p.m., the Kyiv Ukrainian Dance Ensemble presents I'm Ukrainian. Over 40 dancers will take you on a journey through the different areas of Ukraine, discovering the music and dances of her people. There will be vendors as well as a charity raffle as well. Learn more about the event.
