Redhawk Coffee Grand Opening

On Thursday, Sept. 28, from 2 to 4 p.m., join Dining Services to celebrate the grand opening of Redhawk Coffee. Redhawk Coffee, one of Pittsburgh's leading coffee roasters, is joining Carnegie Mellon University Dining Services in the newly constructed Scaife Hall. This modern cafe will offer a world-class coffee experience to the campus communities in a comfortable, welcoming space. Carnegie Mellon Philharmonic

On Friday, Sept. 22, at 8 p.m., the Carnegie Mellon Philharmonic opens the 2023-24 season with thrilling and dramatic works by Shostakovich, including his gripping Symphony No. 5 in D minor. The program will also include the winner of the 2023 Carnegie Mellon Philharmonic Soloist Competition, Elizabeth Hur, who will perform Shostakovich's Violin Concerto No. 1 in A minor. Get your tickets in advance.

University Lecture Series

On Wednesday, Sept. 27, at 5 p.m., check out Abigail Marsh's lecture on "The Biology of Heroism." The University Lecture Series (ULS) features diverse lectures and performances by artists, scholars, and experts invited by Carnegie Mellon faculty, students, and staff. Learn more about this event.

The Great Race

From Sept. 23-24, join in the Great Race! Since that inaugural competition, nearly a half million people have participated in the Great Race, making the event the largest 10K race in Pennsylvania. Enjoy fun and fitness for everyone! Adults can participate in the 5 or 10k. Children can join in the One-Mile Family Fun Run, Tot Trot or Diaper Dash to earn their own medals and a shirt. Learn more and register. Trying to get around town this weekend? You can also learn more about road closures and bus routes that will be impacted by the race this weekend.

Hay Day

Fall is in the air! On Saturday, Sept. 23, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., enjoy hay rides, a barnyard petting zoo, face painting, inflatables, a balloon artist, a puppet show, a magician, games, giveaways and more! Food, beverages and snacks will be available for purchase from local food trucks and vendors. This event is free and open to everyone. Learn more about the event.

2023 Sri Lankan Food Festival

Sri Lankans from across Pennsylvania and Ohio will come together to present a wide variety of authentic, home-cooked Sri Lankan dishes.
