Optional Practical Training OPT Q & A Session
December grads interested in OPT? Complete information is available on the Employment Options Overview webpage and the OPT Canvas course, but if you have additional questions, we invite you to attend a virtual question and answer session about Optional Practical Training (OPT) for December graduates on Friday, Sept. 15, from 12 to 1:30 p.m. Register and submit questions for the session in advance.
Reminder: Semester Add/Drop
Remember that the semester Add/Drop deadline is Sept. 11. To maintain your immigration status, you must remain a full-time student. If you're considering a schedule change, be sure you meet the minimum credit requirement (36 units). Learn more about the Add/Drop process.
Big Queer Welcome
On Friday, Sept. 8, from 4 to 6 p.m., in Merson Courtyard, join the LGBTQIA+ community, advocates and allies in a welcome event to start the new academic year. Learn more about this event.
Introduction to Technical Standards
On Wednesday, Sept. 13, at 11 a.m., join the CMU library team for this in-person workshop. This workshop will help you become familiar with definitions and types of technical standards. You will also be introduced to major standards databases and develop effective standards searching strategies. The basic structure of technical standards will also be covered in the workshop. Advanced registration is required.
Culturally Responsive Bystander Intervention
On Friday, Sept. 15, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., join your fellow Tartans for a Culturally Responsive Bystander workshop. CuRB training explores how identity, privilege and power impact how we support those around us experiencing power-based interpersonal violence. Practice strategies, skills and tools to be an active bystander. Advanced registration is required.

Lights, camera, action! Join Film Pittsburgh for the 11th annual ReelAbilities Pittsburgh film festival Sept. 7-13, at the Pittsburgh Playhouse and virtually! ReelAbilities presents award-winning films that celebrate the lives, stories, and artistic expressions of people living with disabilities. The festival includes three nights of in-person fun, including after-parties, an art exhibit with artists from Studio Forget-Me-Not, filmmaker Q&As, and more! On Sept. 8-9, join the Pittsburgh community for a Ukrainian food festival! Celebrating the cultural melting pot that is Pittsburgh, join locals for great food and a basket raffle.
