Get to know the co-chair of the mentoring programs

sonia-reed.jpgSonia Reed has been with CMU for 7 years. She’s part of the administrative staff for the Software Engineering Institute. Her background is in non-profits, museum education and higher education.

Sonia joined CMWA “to make more robust connections on campus.”

Now, she serves as co-chair for CMWA’s Mentoring Programs.

“I wanted to give back to the CMU community after a positive experience as a mentee in the program,” she said.

Read her Q&A below.

Why should people join the mentoring programs?

People should join the mentoring program to grow personally and professionally, and make a deep, lasting connection with another CMWA member. It’s the perfect opportunity to directly support someone else’s experience – and improve your own.

What’s your favorite CMWA activity or memory?

I loved the garden tour organized in 2018/2019 at Rodef Shalom.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Any interesting hobbies/activities?

I love trying new recipes and exploring new hiking trails. I’m a proud plant-parent who’s excited to start Master Gardener training this fall.

Do you have any quotes or mentors that inspire you?

“The journey is more important than the destination.”
