Graduate Student Lounge
The GSA is the steward of the Graduate Student Lounge on the 3rd floor of the Cohen University Center. GSA has been striving to make this space a source of respite and a place to meet students outside of your department. All graduate students should be able to access this space with their studentIDs.
This AY, a new initiave has been taking place in the lounge. PopUps have been occuring throughout the semester with various University Partners. To be in the know of when these PopUps occur, consider following the GSA Events and Opportunities Calendar.
If you are a user of the Graduate Student Lounge we want to know more about your experience. Please share your thoughts here.
GSA VPIA of AY24-25 brought several proposals to the floor during the October GSA General Body Meeting for consideration in order to revitalize the space and bring in more amenities, however these efforts were unsuccessful in reaching the supermajority vote requirement to earmark the necessary funds.
To know more about the proposals and what happened, check out the report linked below.

Professional Development
CMU's Eberly Center provides excellent resources for students specifically wanting to improve their teaching abilities with programs such as the Future Faculty Program. The Office of Graduate and Postgraduate Affairs and CMU's Career and Professional Development Center both offer workshops, seminars, job fairs, and other general professional development events.
Additionally, starting in Spring 2024 academic year, the GSA has partnered with the Provost's Office to provide Professional Engagement Funding targeted towards individual graduate students (especially master's students) who would otherwise not be able to attend conferences and competitions.
