Shuttles and Transportation
The real-time CMU shuttle tracking system has been upgraded to the TripShot app. Learn more about how to download and use TripShot.
The university offers several transportation options on our Pittsburgh campus. Community members may also use bicycles and other personal wheeled vehicles – including skateboards, in-line skates, scooters, electric bicycles, Segways and other similar vehicles – to commute to and around CMU.
Shuttles
CMU’s shuttles run on a fixed route with specific stops, starting as early as 7 a.m. for some routes and running into the evening. View the latest CMU shuttle schedule and routes. The university's shuttles, as well as neighboring University of Pittsburgh's shuttles, are available to benefits-eligible faculty, staff and students – just tap your CMU ID upon boarding.
Evening NightSafe Transit Service
The NightSafe Transit shuttle service operates in the evening/overnight and provides free late-night transportation for benefits-eligible faculty, staff and students from campus to the Oakland, Shadyside and Squirrel Hill neighborhoods. NightSafe buses operate from 6:30 p.m. to 4:15 a.m., cycling every 45 minutes. You must tap your valid CMU ID to board. View the NightSafe Transit bus schedule, pickup locations and zones.
Mass Transit
Carnegie Mellon has an agreement with Pittsburgh Regional Transit (PRT) to allow our benefits-eligible faculty, staff and students to ride PRT buses, light rail and inclines using their CMU ID card. View www.rideprt.org for transit details and schedules.
