Graduate Student Assembly

The Graduate Student Assembly is the branch of CMU’s student government that represents graduate students. GSA has been proudly advocating for the betterment of the graduate experience since the 1980s. GSA is composed of the executive board, including the President & 7 Vice Presidents, department representatives, and Advocates for graduate student issues.

The GSA executive board members each head a committee related to their respective chairs, where any graduate student may contribute, even if they are not a department representative.

Primary functions

  • Organizing social events throughout the year
  • Advocating on issues important to graduate students
  • Providing funding for graduate organizations and professional development
