The CMU Rales Fellows Program is dedicated to developing a diverse community of STEM leaders from under-resourced backgrounds by eliminating cost as a barrier to education. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or DACA recipients, and applying to an eligible Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) graduate degree program on Carnegie Mellon University's Pittsburgh campus. Admissions
The MS in Data Analytics for Science is designed to prepare students with undergraduate training in the physical and life sciences with the sophisticated data science, machine learning and AI tools to advance scientific research and discovery.
Successful candidates will have, prior to matriculation, completed an undergraduate degree in biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics or a related science-based major/minor. Further, students are expected to have:
- Completed an introductory Python programming course or be able to show through personal/professional experience an equivalent level of knowledge.
- Completed an introductory linear algebra course at the undergraduate level.
Candidates with deficiencies in one of these areas may be admitted provided proper remediation is completed prior to enrollment.
