Reserve a Room in the Interview Center

The CPDC Interview Center is located on the Lower Level of the Cohon University Center and is available for both employers and students to host/participate in interviews. The Interview Center’s 25 rooms are also available to students to hold Zoom or phone interviews when they are not booked. Walk-ins are welcome. Reservations are recommended. Note: You must reserve a room by 4 p.m. the day prior to your needs in order to guarantee a reservation. Any requests made after this time for a next-day appointment are not guaranteed!

The Career and Professional Development Center now offers two Premium Interview Rooms designed to provide students and alumni with technical or final-stage interviews with an enhanced, professional environment for employer interviews and assessments. Each room features an additional smart monitor with webcam and speakers, enhanced lighting, sound-dampening panels, and a white-noise machine to help reduce distractions and improve the virtual interview experience.

Who can use a Premium Interview Room?

Premium Interview Rooms are available to CMU students and alumni with a scheduled employer interview or assessment. Appropriate uses include:

  • Virtual technical or coding interviews and assessments
  • Virtual late-stage interviews
  • Virtual interviews that require screen sharing or demonstrations

Premium Interview Rooms are not intended for general networking meetings, first-round interviews, presentations, studying, classwork, or other non-interview activities.

How do I request a Premium Interview Room?

You may request a Premium Interview Room through the normal Interview Center reservation process described above by emailing recruit@andrew.cmu.edu. When submitting your request, please:

  1. Request a Premium Interview Room specifically
  2. Provide proof of your scheduled employer interview or assessment, such as a forwarded employer email or a screenshot of the employer's email confirmation or calendar invitation. Sensitive information should be redacted.
  3. Briefly explain how the Premium Room or its additional features would benefit your interview.

Important Information

  • Reservations are required. Premium Interview Rooms are not available for walk-in use.
  • Premium Interview Rooms are available Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–7:00 p.m. Interviews may begin as late as 6:00 p.m.; however, all students must vacate the room by 6:45 p.m. so the Interview Center can close and secure the space. For interviews scheduled near closing time, the 30-minute post-interview allowance may be shortened.
  • Premium Interview Rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to availability.
  • Requesting a Premium Interview Room does not guarantee that one will be available. If a Premium Room is unavailable, a standard Interview Center room may be offered instead.
  • Students may reserve one Premium Interview Room per interview.
  • The room is available beginning 30 minutes before the scheduled interview and for up to 30 minutes after the scheduled interview end time, regardless of interview length.
  • Students should notify the Interview Center as soon as possible if they no longer need their reserved Premium Interview Room so it can be made available to another student.
  • Instructions for using the room's technology are provided inside each Premium Interview Room.
