Spark: Startups and Emerging Companies is an innovative career event designed to provide a platform for small business and early stage start-ups to engage Carnegie Mellon University students and alumni. Companies will be afforded the opportunity to network with, and recruit our students and alumni, as well as share information about their company story, mission, and/or products with all in attendance. Spark is presented in collaboration with CMU’s Swartz Center For Entrepreneurship.

What Is Included:

One 24" round high top recruiting table with black linen, up to three (3) representatives per registration, one parking access code per company and next-day interview option. Refreshments will be provided.

Spark:  Goes Green            
The CPDC is dedicated to the University-wide Scotty Goes Green initiative.  As part of this effort, we ask that all Spark employers limit giveaways to those items that are practical and usable. These might include: candy, chapsticks, hand sanitizer, notebooks, pens, USB sticks. Please join us in taking steps towards a more sustainable future for us all! 

Company Displays/Banners
Company display/banner dimensions for Spark cannot exceed 8’ high x 3’ wide.  Contact Janet Vojtash if your display/banner exceeds these requirements.  Although not guaranteed, every effort will be made for those employers who have displays/banners that go beyond the stated dimensions

Cancellation/Refund Policy
Cancellations must be emailed to Janet Vojtash on or before October 10, 2020 for a full refund. Cancellation requests after October 10 for event registration, additional representative fees, and/or interview table(s) will not be refunded.

No-Show Policy

If you register but do not attend the event, you are not entitled to transfers or refunds at any time. No-shows forfeit their entire registration fee and materials, and are not eligible to roll the registration package over to another event. To avoid being considered a no-show, please email Janet Vojtash and cancel no later than October 10, 2020.

Hotels with an asterisk (*) indicate that Carnegie Mellon should have an annual contract in place for special pricing, group rates, shuttle services, etc. Unique terms and conditions may apply, please check with the hotel directly upon booking.

Display space is limited as this event consists of high top tables rather than booths.  If you wish to ship displays/banners prior to the event please make sure the packages are clearly labeled with your company name and "Spark" and arrive prior to October 22.

Shipping Back To Your Company
It is your responsibility to see that display materials are returned to your company. Please bring pre-printed FedEx or UPS labels with you for each package to be shipped back. We do have FedEx and UPS representatives on hand immediately after the event.

If you do not use FedEx or UPS, please arrange a pick-up by your carrier between 4:30pm and 5:00pm on the day of the event at the Cohon University Center, 2nd Floor, Rangos Ballroom.

We will reserve one parking space per company in the East Campus Garage for the day of Spark.  When you arrive at the garage, please proceed to the entry gate.  A parking access code will be emailed prior to the event.  Upon arrival to the East Campus Garage, enter the parking access code and then the “enter button” (#) on the keypad. This code is also required to exit the garage and is only good for one entry and one exit.  Proceed into the Cohon University Center building.  Follow the signs to employer check-in, 2nd Floor at Rangos 2.
