Receive Your Immigration Document (I-20 or DS-2019)

Will I Receive an I-20 or DS-2019?

Students who receive government funding and whose government has sent a written request for J status will receive a Form DS-2019, which will be used to apply for a J-1 student visa. All other students will receive a Form I-20 that will be used to apply for an F-1 visa.

When & How Will I Receive My Document?

OIE's goal is to process immigration documents within six weeks of receiving ALL required information from the student and the Office of Admission (undergraduate students) or the admitting academic department (graduate students).

Note for Undergraduates: OIE will prepare your Certificate of Eligibility (Form I-20 or Form DS-2019) during the months of March through July after receiving complete information, financial documents and confirmation of enrollment deposit from the Office of Admission.

When the Certificate of Eligibility (Form I-20 or Form DS-2019) is ready, you will receive an email notification from OIE with instructions for downloading the document from your MyOIE Portal.
