Cortney Seltman
Assistant Director of Study Abroad
Cortney has been promoting and supporting study abroad at CMU since 2023. She previously worked as an International Student & Scholar Advisor in the Office of International Education. In between, she worked as a mental health therapist, birth doula, and childbirth educator and mentor. She has worked as a public health researcher in Samoa, facilitated global education and peacebuilding programs in the U.S. and abroad with The School for International Training/World Learning and the Governor’s Institute of Vermont, and supported public health and social marketing programs in East & Southern Africa. She has also worked in the Study Abroad offices at Brown and Syracuse University.
Cortney received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Brown University, holds a Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in PA. She has studied abroad in Costa Rica, the Pacific Islands, and at the University of Geneva, and also worked and lived abroad in Mexico and Ecuador.
Born and raised in Vermont, Cortney has made her home in Pittsburgh since 2008. She loves running, biking and hiking in the woods and the desert, making and eating green, sweet, and spicy foods, and planning adventures to warm and sunny places.
