Cortney Seltman

Assistant Director of Study Abroad

Cortney previously worked as a Foreign Student & Scholar Advisor in OIE and is thrilled to be back after 12 years at home with her three young children and working as a mental health therapist, birth doula, and Birthing From Within mentor. She has worked as a public health researcher in Samoa, facilitated global education and peacebuilding programs in the U.S. and abroad with The School for International Training/World Learning and the Governor’s Institute of Vermont, and supported public health and social marketing programs in East & Southern Africa. Once upon a time, she also worked in the Study Abroad offices at Brown and Syracuse University.

Cortney received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Brown University and a Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She has studied abroad in Costa Rica, the Pacific Islands, and at the University of Geneva.

Born and raised in Vermont, Cortney has made her home in Pittsburgh since 2008. She loves running, biking and hiking in the woods and the desert, making and eating green, sweet, and spicy foods, and planning adventures to warm and sunny places.
