Linda Gentile

Director of OIE

Linda Gentile serves as the OIE Director and advisor to H-1B, TN and other foreign employees of Carnegie Mellon. In addition to administrative and advising responsibilities, Linda organizes non-resident tax services and faculty, staff, and student groups on international issues upon request.

Linda has over 30 years of advising experience in international education. Her prior professional experience includes more than 15 years of service as an advisor and administrator at a neighboring university. She has also been long-time member of NAFSA: Association of International Educators, where she has served in a number of leadership positions including sering as NAFSA Vice-Chair for International Student and Scholar Services, Policy & Practice Committee, a national elected position. Linda is an active member and presenter at NAFSA conferences/workshops.

Linda obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Grinnell College and her Master of Public and International Affairs from the University of Pittsburgh and studied abroad in Seville, Spain.

In 2019, Linda was awarded the NAFSA Internation Education Award for Distinguished Service to NAFSA in honor of Homer Higbee.  in In 2008, she was selected to participate in the Baden-Württemberg Seminar on German-American educational exchange, sponsored by educational institutions in Baden-Württemberg, Germany and in 2006 she was selected to participate in the Adviser's Professional Partnership Program (APPP), funded by the US Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, to visit students, schools and EducationUSA advisors in India.
