- Encompasses a broad spectrum of research questions, approaches and methodologies
- Provides students with fundamental tools of linguistic analysis and maintains a focus on the human context
- Brings together courses from the departments of Philosophy, English, Languages, Cultures & Applied Linguistics, Psychology and the Language Technologies Institute to offer students a broad set of options for exploring interests
- Courses focus on topics from phonology, phonetics & syntax to creative topics like “Invented Languages” and “Interstellar Linguistics”
Linguistics is also offered as a minor, which focuses on the same skills as the major, but requires only six courses.
