gPROMS

Installation Instructions

  1. gPROMS is available for download from cheme-software in the PSE folder. See software share for more information.

  2. In the gPROMS folder on cheme-software, select the desired version of gPROMS (the latest version, 4.2, is reccommended) and open the corresponding folder. Then, find the folder for your correct operating system. If you are unsure if you have a 32 or 64 bit version of windows, go to Start. Select Control Panel, and then System. Look under system type. Most current computers run 64 bit windows.

2. Copy the desired folder to your computer by dragging it onto your desktop, or another location if preferred. Open the folder and run the setup application inside it.

3. You may be prompted to login. Use your typical AndrewID login but add andrew\ before your username. The format is as follows:

Username: andrew\<Andrew ID>
Password: <Andrew ID Password>

 

3. Click Next.

4. Choose a place to install gPROMS, or leave the default location (reccommended). Click Next.

8. Be sure you've selected use remote license server(s) and click Next.

9. In the gPROMS folder on chemesvr2, there should be a file called LicenseServer.txt. Copy the information in that file into the Server 1 slot on this page of the installer. You can set the license server after the setup is complete by opening an administrator command prompty and typing "setx PSELMD_LICENSE_FILE 27000@licensing.cheme.cmu.edu /M" without quotes and pressing enter.

10. Click Install.

11. Click Finish.
