Gonzalo Mena is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Statistics & Data Science at Carnegie Mellon University. His research develops statistical and machine learning methods for analyzing complex biological data, drawing on ideas from optimal transport, causal inference, and related fields. In neuroscience, his work aims to characterize cellular and molecular trajectories, understand the biological processes underlying neurodegeneration, and explain heterogeneity in cognitive decline, with particular applications to Alzheimer's disease.
