Transfer Orientation Schedule Daily Overview
Transfer Orientation will take place August 20 - 24!
All incoming transfer students are invited to Transfer Student Orientation. This is a curated schedule of events to meet the needs of transfer students and their adjustment to Carnegie Mellon. Transfer students are assigned to an orientation group led by Orientation Counselors and an Orientation Leader who also transferred to CMU. Over the summer, transfer students will receive specialized communication about their transition and completing the onboarding checklist.

Wednesday, August 20, 2025: Move-In and Welcome
Transfer Student Move-In
Transfer students will sign up for morning move-in time slots for university housing. CMU community members will be present to help you move in your belongings.
If transfer students are living off-campus, please plan to arrive by Wednesday morning.
Transfer Student and Family Welcome Lunch
Transfer students and their families are invited to attend a welcome lunch. There will be remarks from university leadership and student leaders.
Connection Starters and CMU To-Dos
Orientation Counselors will help bring the fun by leading connection starts for transfer students to get to know each other better. After, students can use this time to complete those to-dos to get prepared for the start of classes.
Academic Social
Students will join their academic colleges for off-campus social events.

Convocation
Join transfer students and the class of 2029+ for the formal welcome to the Carnegie Mellon community from President Jahanian and university leaders.
Orientation Small Group Meeting and Dinner
Meet with your Orientation group to review the content of the day and to play some icebreakers.
Class of 2029+ Photo & Evening Entertainment
Join transfer students and Class of 2029+ for the first-year class photo and fun activities around campus!

This interactive program will explore the dimensions of well-being as well as resources to support each CMU student in their wellness journey.
Transfer Student Panel with the Transfer Student Organization
Learn what it means to be a transfer student from the lived experiences from member of the Transfer Student Organization.
Short Cut City: Campus Tours
This campus tour will highlight the short cuts between buildings around campus. Transfer students can bring their class schedules to check out their classrooms.
Carnegie Cup
Join the class of 2029+ for an evening to celebrate house pride and friendly competition. Students create cheers, banners, and dress in house colors to build excitement for an evening of quirky outdoor field games or a puzzle hunt.
