Welcome and onboarding webinars for the Class of 2029+

About the Series

Carnegie Mellon University invites you and your family to a series of welcome and onboarding webinars for the Class of 2029+ hosted by First-Year Orientation and Family Engagement. The summer webinar series will kick off with the Welcome and Onboarding Webinars. All incoming undergraduate students and their families are encouraged to attend.

The remainder of the summer will feature our First-Year Family Summer Webinar Series. Each week will feature a new topic to equip families with information to assist in their student’s transition to Carnegie Mellon. 

Please register for all webinars in advance. Zoom links will be provided before each session in a confirmation email. Language translation will be available through Zoom. The webinars will be recorded and available after the event here on this webpage.

Welcome and Onoarding Webinars

Welcome & Onboarding

Carnegie Mellon University invited all incoming students and their families to the First-Year Student Welcome & Onboarding Webinar, hosted by First-Year Orientation and Family Engagement. The webinar prepared first-year and transfer students for a successful start at Carnegie Mellon, including guidance for tasks that incoming students need to complete during the summer and how to plan for the fall 2025 semester. 

International Student Webinar

Incoming undergraduate international students and their families attended the First-Year International Student Webinar. This webinar built upon information shared at the First-Year Student Welcome & Onboarding Webinar, and covered important information specifically for incoming international students, including immigration requirements, travel planning and safety.

Preparing for Academic Success

Join us for the first session of our First-Year Family Webinar Series, designed to equip families with the knowledge and resources to support their student's academic journey. This webinar, titled "Preparing for Academic Success," will feature insights from the Student Success Center, Disability Resources, academic advisors, and University Libraries. Learn how to support your student and help them navigate their first year with confidence. This opportunity will connect you with campus experts and get your questions answered.

Wednesday, June 18
7:30 - 8:30 p.m. ET

Join us for the second session of our First-Year Family Webinar Series, focusing on "Living On-Campus." This webinar will feature leadership from Residential Education, Dining Services and the Carnegie Mellon Police Department. Residential Education will provide important insights like understanding the housing communities and the role of a housefellow. Dining Services will introduce their unique food service program that meets the nutritional, educational and social needs of students. The CMU Police Department will discuss campus safety measures. This opportunity will connect you with campus experts and get your questions answered about your student's experience on campus.
