Francisco Javier Bonilla earned his Ph.D. in History from Carnegie Mellon University in 2024, specializing in environmental history, urban water, and the history of technology in Latin America. Since graduation, he has taught for the University of Louisville in both Kentucky and Panama, and served as Supervisor of Undergraduate Research for McGill University’s Panama Field Studies Semester. His research has been supported by multiple fellowships, including the 2025–2026 Virtual Fellowship at the Linda Hall Library, a travel scholarship to present at the Sociedad Latinoamericana y Caribeña de Historia Ambiental (SOLCHA) conference in Rio de Janeiro, and his current position as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the School of Architecture at Princeton University, supported by the Program in Latin American Studies and the Humanities Council’s Architecture, Urbanism, and the Humanities Initiative.
