Aria (she/her) is a first year Masters of Professional Writing student with a BS in Technical Writing with an Additional Major in Environmental and Sustainability Studies from CMU. Aria is passionate about the transformative power of communication in all of its forms, and is eager to support others’ writing endeavors in their varying areas of expertise. Outside of school, Aria interns as a Communications Consultant at TiER1 Performance, serves as a leader in Carnegie Mellon’s Greek Life scene, and works as a Student Sustainability Liaison for the Carnegie Mellon Sustainability Initiative. You can often find Aria exploring new hiking spots, watching reality TV with her friends, or checking out books from the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh.

Devon is a Ph.D. Candidate in Applied Linguistics and Second Language Acquisition. She has been with CLS for over 5 years and enjoys working with multilingual students on anything from dissertations, journal articles, and practicing casual English conversation. In her free time she enjoys language learning and taking care of her many houseplants.

I am a PhD student in Literary and Cultural Studies. My research focuses on dramatic literature, performance, and the culture of playgoing in early modern England. Recently, I have presented papers on affect in the theatre, bodies of size on the early modern stage, and silent film adaptations of Shakespeare. Before coming to CMU, I taught composition and literature at Jackson College, City Colleges of Chicago, American Islamic College, and The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and worked as a performer, dramaturg, and education manager with professional theatre companies in Michigan and Chicago, IL.

Hailey is a senior studying creative and professional writing within the Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Studies. At CMU, she is a member of the University Press and co-president of the Transfer Student Organization. Outside of her studies, she writes for the true crime podcast Murder in America, and you can often find her in one of the cafes on campus knee-deep in documentaries and news articles. She enjoys working with writers across all disciplines, and loves learning all about different majors through her clients!

Kaya is a senior undergraduate studying Literature and Culture and Professional Writing. At CMU, Kaya is also an RA for Forbes Beeler Apartments and the proud president of CMU’s improv comedy troupe, the No Parking Players. As a CLS consultant, Kaya is excited to be a part of the CLS community and provide any support she can. Kaya typically spends her free time reading, crocheting, or watching movies.

Leo is an undergraduate student studying Business Administration with an additional major in Statistics and Data Science. His interests include spatial rhetoric, playing musical instruments, and exploring different neighborhoods in Pittsburgh. As a CLS Consultant, he is excited to help students grow and improve as writers and communicators. Outside of the classroom, he is a Resident Assistant for Mudge House and can often be found eating food in Squirrel Hill.

Lily (she/her) is a senior with a primary major in Professional Writing, an additional major in Ethics, History, and Public Policy, and a minor in Gender Studies. She’s beholden to communication and storytelling in all forms and is excited to facilitate people’s work across multiple disciplines. Outside the classroom, she is heavily involved with campus journalism as an editor on The Tartan, and is an active participant in Carnegie Mellon’s dance and Greek Life scenes. In her free time, she can be found trying new restaurants, seeking out live music, and taking long walks up and down Pittsburgh’s many hills.

Morgan is a masters student in the Global Cultures and Applied Translation program. She enjoys speaking with international students and learning about other cultures and languages. Her research interests include etymology and sociolinguistics.

Sheila is pursuing her Master’s in Public Policy and Management at Heinz College. She is from The Bronx, NY, and recently completed her undergraduate degree at Middlebury in Vermont, where she also worked at the writing center, working specifically with first-generation students and multilingual learners. Post-grad, she worked at the NYPL in adult education. Outside of the writing center, her interest are environmental policy and agriculture, you can usually find her at the library or a community garden.

Shivam is a PhD student in English at Carnegie Mellon University with a background in linguistics and journalism. His research explores rhetoric, language, digital communication, and the ways artificial intelligence is reshaping how we communicate. Before joining CMU, he worked as a researcher at the Indian School of Business and the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore and taught courses in business communication, digital communication, and marketing. As a Communication and Language Support Consultant, Shivam enjoys working with students across disciplines on academic and professional writing, developing clear and persuasive arguments, organizing ideas, presentations, and communicating complex research effectively. He is especially interested in working with multilingual students and helping writers develop confidence in their own voice.

Woojoo is a sophomore studying Statistics and Machine Learning. He currently serves as a statistics ambassador at CMU and hopes to pursue a career in AI research after graduation. In his free time he enjoys hiking, thrifting, and listening to music.
