Director of Communication and Language Support

Bio

Kristin joined CMU as the Director of Communication & Language Support Development in the Student Academic Success Center in August 2024. In this role, she leads initiatives to enhance academic and professional communication skills and English language learning. Prior to her work at CMU, she was Managing Director of the Writing Centers of Texas Tech University, where she led the university's writing support initiatives and was the founding director of the Graduate and Health Sciences Center Writing Centers. Her research examines the intersections of identity and skill development in communication centers and academic writing communities. Her work has appeared in WPA: Writing Program Administration; Gender, Work & Organization]; and edited collections in the field of writing studies. Kristin holds a Ph.D and M.A. in English from The Pennsylvania State University and B.A. in English and Political Science from The Ohio State University.
