Centered on Students
On the corner of Tech and Margaret Morrison, a new facility is rising that will transform the Carnegie Mellon student experience — and Andrew Carnegie Society members are playing an important role in this key university initiative.
In fall 2021, CMU broke ground for the new Highmark Center for Health, Wellness and Athletics, a $105-million, 160,000-foot project that will enhance the university’s athletics, wellness and health programs and revitalize an underused part of campus. This new building will house comprehensive health care and well-being services as well as modern athletic facilities, including spaces dedicated to treatment, self-care and education.
Creating a Healthy Community

The health of the Carnegie Mellon community will be bolstered by a dedicated space for comprehensive, wrap-around care — a new holistic model that includes:
- University Health Services Clinic with treatment, exam, triage, and rest and recovery rooms
- Counseling and Psychological Services suite
Enhancing a Culture of Wellness

The new center unites many aspects of CMU’s wellness programs, offering students resources to find balance, develop healthy habits and explore their spirituality, such as:
- Well-Being Lab
- Meditation nooks
Fueling Athletic Performance

The Highmark Center will elevate the training, competition and team-building spaces required to take our intercollegiate program to the next level as well as to recruit diverse, exceptional Division III student-athletes with spaces like:
- Indoor training and recreation facilities
- Performance Arena
