Modern Languages in the World: Summer Study Abroad

This course is specifically designed for students who are participating in Modern Languages summer study abroad programs and is a required component of the experience. This course will discuss some of the necessary logistics for the trip, and moreover will get students ready for their time in abroad by preparing them to: analyze major themes in the culture and history of their study location; recognize local social norms and customs; identify linguistic features in the target language; compare and contrast different theories of both intercultural and experiential learning; engage more actively in their own learning processes; familiarize themselves with internship and research opportunities available on their program.
