Second Language Acquisition and Technology

Course Number: 82-388

We will explore how technology can be used and researched in contexts of second language acquisition and teaching. We'll investigate research, best pedagogical practices, and technological tools used in Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL). Students will learn how to conduct a review of a pedagogical tech tool or app (e.g., Chat GPT, Duolingo for Schools, Lingostar AI) and how to integrate it into a meaningful task-based or project-based lesson plan. In addition to teaching demos, students will engage in the creation of a research project proposal and/or literature review regarding a specific facet of technology-enhanced language teaching and learning.
