This talk, based on Shellen Xiao Wu's new book "Birth of the Geopolitical Age," explores the role of global frontier settlements in shaping modern China. It examines how China uniquely navigated the 20th century's political upheavals, maintaining its territorial integrity and influencing global power dynamics in East Asia and beyond.
