CMU Ranks No. 1 in 2026 U.S. News Graduate Rankings

Carnegie Mellon University secured six No. 1 rankings in the newly released 2026 Best Graduate Schools(opens in new window) rankings from the U.S. News & World Report.
Carnegie Mellon ranks first for overall graduate computer science programs, tied with Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Stanford University. Among computer science programs, CMU also earned No. 1 rankings in Programming Language(opens in new window), Artificial Intelligence(opens in new window), and Systems(opens in new window), along with a No. 2 ranking in Theory(opens in new window) (tied with University of California Berkeley).
Excellence in information technology is also reflected in two other No. 1 rankings: Information Systems(opens in new window) (tied with University of Texas at Austin) in the Best Business Schools category and Information and Technology Management(opens in new window) in the Best Public Affairs Programs category.
Additional top rankings include No. 2 in Business Analytics(opens in new window) (tied with Columbia and Stanford universities) and No. 5 in Supply Chain/Logistics (tied with Cornell University and the University of Chicago), both within the Business category, and No. 4 in Computer Engineering(opens in new window), in the Best Engineering Schools category. Carnegie Mellon earned top 10 rankings in several other categories.
