In response to recent executive orders, we are reviewing our website to reflect necessary adjustments while maintaining our core values. Terminology may shift, but our focus will not.
With these changes underway, we remain committed to our vision: People around the globe will have the vision, heart, and innovation skills to seek out meaningful problems and solve them.
In recent months, we have spent time as a team reflecting on the iii and our vision, mission, and values. This exercise continually reinforced our commitment to the broader community that we serve and support.
As you find this message, you might be a prospective student or parent, a current student, or part of our alumni community with questions.
The Integrated Innovation Institute empowers students and alumni as global changemakers through an immersive and professional educational experience that fosters innovation, problem-solving, and lifelong curiosity. By cultivating a vibrant, forward-looking student body and leading by example, we inspire transformative change across industries and communities.
Built on the foundation of CMU's broader values, our values provide a focused approach to our vision. These ideals from both CMU and iii should be viewed collectively. Achieving our best work requires balancing these values to create a meaningful impact within CMU and beyond. Balance implies that all values are interconnected and cannot be pursued in isolation.

- Solution Driven - reflected in a commitment to our bias to action as we proactively seek solutions, in how we embrace a culture of teamwork, and in how we encourage efficiencies and flexibility for significant change and impact.
- Integrated - reflected in deeply aligned goals, in how diverse perspectives and skills are brought together into a shared vision to tackle complex challenges with valued solutions
- Nimble - reflected in diligence to make informed decisions and to implement execution carefully and quickly, in our pursuit of opportunities despite potential uncertainties, and in our continual learning, adaption, and persistence in value creation.
- Reflective - rooted in a culture that embraces thoughtful decision-making, learning from experience, and continual improvement.
- Optimistic - reflected in our mindset that views experiences, even failure, as learning opportunities; in the view that challenges are temporary and solvable; and in our ongoing efforts to foster a culture where everyone can thrive.
- Authentic - reflected in our capacity to bring one’s full self to enhance the lived experience of self and others, in a willingness to take risks in using our skills to strive towards the greater while being transparent about current gaps in knowledge or ability.
Furthermore, these values are the foundational principles that guide our actions, decisions, and behaviors. By consistently acting upon our values over time, we establish and enhance an organizational culture that supports our vision and mission. Importantly, students experience and learn our culture, they learn and adopt our values, leaving CMU not only with skills but also with values that equip them to work well in their future roles.
