Bio
Brian Shyu brings over 15 years of industry expertise in product design, user experience, and artificial intelligence to Carnegie Mellon University.
Currently serving as SVP of Design at Cognite, a leading industrial AI company, Brian specializes in creating human-centered design solutions for complex industrial applications. His extensive background includes building and leading design organizations at global enterprises such as Hexagon, Eaton, Dicks Sporting Goods, Highmark Health, and MSA, where he developed world-class design practices that bridge the gap between technology and people.
Brian's interests and teaching focus on the intersection of UX design and industrial applications, with particular emphasis on making AI-driven systems intuitive and actionable for diverse user populations. His work spans intelligent safety equipment, cloud-based collaborative platforms, and industrial data visualization, providing students with real-world insights into designing for mission-critical environments.
