Time in the Online MIIPS Program
Robyn pursued her Bachelor of Arts in International Studies at Point Park University, and after graduating, dabbled in UX/UI design. When considering graduate programs, she knew that she wanted to pursue a flexible degree that fit into her professional and personal life. When she discovered the online Master of Integrated Innovation for Products & Services (MIIPS) Program, she recognized the potential of the program’s flexible stackable certificate structure.
Since starting the Online MIIPS program, Robyn has discovered her passion for product development. The coursework combines skills she already possesses with new areas she is eager to explore. Although the curriculum is demanding, Robyn effectively balances her studies with her personal life by setting aside specific times each week for her coursework. Additionally, she dedicates her weekends to focused study sessions that allow her to thoroughly engage with the material.
The program has provided Robyn with a strong sense of community, both among her peers and professors. She has thoroughly enjoyed collaborating and networking with fellow students through various projects and breakout rooms during class. With numerous opportunities for connection within the online program, Robyn never feels isolated in her learning journey. She also finds inspiration in working alongside like-minded professionals who share common goals.
Working as a Project Administrator at CMU
At Carnegie Mellon University, Robyn works as a Project Administrator in the Student Affairs division. Each day brings new challenges, which she enjoys. Her role involves extensive support work and collaboration with other department heads to enhance the student experience at CMU.
“It feels very natural to be able to go from class to work and take what I am learning into my project work. I feel like a lot of the skills are transferable.”
Robyn learned about the Online MIIPS program from a colleague at CMU when she began exploring the university's professional development opportunities. Some of these opportunities are offered through CMU's tuition reimbursement program, which encourages staff to pursue higher education.
