Lori Miller Heinel is no stranger to leadership. She is one of Carnegie Mellon's most senior and visible alumni in the finance and investment industry, serving as executive vice president and global chief investment officer for the world's fourth largest asset management firm, State Street Global Advisors. In this role, she leads more than 600 professionals around the world who oversee a diverse portfolio of industry-leading investments from index funds and exchange-traded funds to active, multi-asset class solutions and alternative investments.

Lauded for her intelligence, passion and integrity, Lori is an inspiring example to women in her field. A recognized champion in promoting women to leadership, Lori was selected by State Street to lead its “Fearless Girl” campaign, and she was named one of 2022’s Most Influential Women Executives in Corporate America by Women Inc. magazine.

Lori holds a chartered financial analyst (CFA) designation and is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society Boston. She actively engages in a number of industry bodies that promote strong governance, diversity and global standard-setting, including advisory roles for several major index providers. She served as a two-term member of the Tepper School Alumni Board for six years.

She previously held the position of deputy global chief investment officer with State Street Global Advisors. Prior to joining State Street, Lori was the chief investment strategist and head of Product Management for OppenheimerFunds, Inc. She previously held leadership positions with Citi Private Bank, SEI Investments Company, Mellon Financial and Parker/Hunter Incorporated.

She received her MBA from Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business and a bachelor’s degree in religion from Princeton University. She is a member of the CFA Institute Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Steering Committee, an Advisory Board Member of the Millstein Center at Columbia Law School and a co-chair of the Investor Leadership Network CIO Roundtable. Lori is also on the Board of the Boston Ballet.
